Finsbury Square

(EC2) Built in 1789 by George Dance, R.A., on the north side of Moorfields. At the northeast corner lived the estimable Dr. Birkbeck, the founder of Mechanics' Institutions; he died here in 1841. (Reference: Timbs's Curiosities of London, p. 749) .
