A review of The Marksman by John written on Wednesday 17th of December 2008
I dropped in this Pub on an off chance. I live in Sheffield but I was stopping in a nearby hotel.
I walked into the Pub and asked the bar maid if they were serving food. She came for behind the bar and went through the menu board with me. I settled for
the Wild Salmon. It was scrumptious. Gary (the owner)and his wife had a meal and sat and talked to me.
This promoted a return visit the next night. The Mushroom and Chestnut pie didn't fail to satisfy. After eating I went and sat at the bar and easily struck up a conversation with the Bar maid and Chef and some of the Locales. Leaving late and very happy.
The pub has only just started serving cooked food but what I have had was excellent. The Pub itself is a bit of a rough Diamond but has the warmth and friendliness that I have failed to find in more up market pubs.
I will be returning next time in london
