A review of Eltham Crematorium by Susan Hickford written on Thursday 25th of September 2008
My mother passed away in 1991 and was cremated at the Eltham Crematorium; this has been the home for all our family members over the decades. I make the journey three times a year to the 'little flattened earth' wherein my dear mum lies. I flurried her ashes in lavender before burying them beneath the soil. As a child I watched the smoke rising from my school 'Crown Woods'on a Monday and wondered if ever I would meet my mum in heaven. The 'Crem' was always my safe haven; always a garden of serenity.
Occasionally, I see a Robin (my mother promised to come back as a Robin)and I rise to this great occasion. Every path I tread in the 'Crem' makes me feel special. This place is not just for strangers
but for friends of the universe. We all deserve this little piece of heaven for a little while and then, we too, must pass on to the next chapter of our lives.
Each powder blue petal and each green grass lives forever in my heart. each footstep we take..... leads us closer to our loved ones. Stop and smile. The person we miss the most will see us and walk by our side. This is where we draw our strength. We are not missed - we are always loved. A little piece of our heart has room for you too. Remember that!!!!!.
