A review of Bluebeckers Eating House by Barbara Millward written on Wednesday 16th of April 2008
We paid our 3rd visit to the recently opened Bluebeckers just outside Reading near Mapledurham. The first and second visits were fine, food of a good standard and reasonably priced and the service was friendly. The portions were a decent size too. Although quite busy the staff were able to cope. Our last visit however last Saturday 12th was a different story. It was packed, we ordered the Lamb Shank - sorry off - we then said we'd have the Tuna - sorry off - we then went for the salmon encroute. Never did it cross their minds to remove the Lamb from the specials chalk board as we overheard others requesting the same dishes. The salmon and duck we ordered had obviously been left under some form of heating elemnt to keep warm as it was dried out. Our starter portions (crayfish & smoked salmon)were half the size of our previous 2 visits. Probably heading the same way as the Lamb & Tuna! Best to avoid here for the next month or so until things have settled down a bit..
