"'Fine Food' blended with 'Mediocre Service'"

My girlfriend and I were greeted with a warm welcome. So far so good I thought. I happened to notice before we were seated that there were a few tables toward the rear of the restaurant which were set in dimmed lighting. I thought that these vacant tables would be more applicable to the romantic evening I had hoped for with my partner. I asked if we could sit at one of these more romantic tables only to be told that they were reserved. It was 9:30 pm and there were around 10 different sized tables 1 of which was occupied by a few people dining. I accepted her answer and followed her to the table she had in mind. A table I might add as about romantic as a walk in a sewer pipe with your chosen partner. The table was located next to the stairs leading to the toilet. So being distracted by people running up and down the stairs to take care of business wasn't the best setting for romance. After making our feelings known a romantic table of our choice mystically became available. We had starters, and mains accompanied by Peroni. The food was not a disappointment and was delivered without delay. Drinks took a little while to be served and the manager who told me the romantic area was reserved came over and apologized for the initial inconvenience. I had king prawns to begin and duck for main course, both divine tasting cuisine. After the meal the manager called a taxi for us to depart for home. The staff need to be more attentive to the customer's needs. Not a bad experience just not a good one. .
