A review of Pizza Parlour by Anonymous written on Monday 3rd of March 2008
My mother and I visited this restaurant whilst on a shopping spree on Ealing Road. Normally, we do a 'take-away' from this restaurant as their pizzas are divine, but on this occasion our dining-in experience was somewhat hampered by the ‘no tap water’ policy that this restaurant appears to have adopted.
Given the current debate on serving tap water and reducing bottled water in restaurants, together with the Evening Standard’s campaign to provide water on tap – and even the House of Commons have joined the band wagon – I am disturbed that a family restaurant should adopt such an archaic policy.
When I questioned the waitress about this I was met with ‘I only work here. This is restaurant policy.' On further examination of the drinks menu I found a jug of refrigerated water listed. Upon requesting this I was told it was not available.
I explained that management should reconsider this policy – and asked if they were aware of the media coverage of bottled v tap. I was met with a blank face: This part of Brent obviously isn't in tune with current affairs - which is a shame.
Mum and I both opted for a very thirst-quenching passion juice. However, what mum really wanted was water.
Can small restaurants not keep up with the times?
