A review of Parikiaki Greek Cypriot Newspaper by Angelina Brooks written on Monday 13th of November 2006
Its not often that I decide to write a review about an event but in the case of Katerina's show -Cockroach Waltz at the Greenwich Playhouse , I couldn't help myself. I was stunned by the imagination, the execution and the story of her playfilm. A brutal Cambridge professor, a naive Greek student and her oversexed Greek mother in 20-year-love triangle that drives the girl mad. Lots of comical film sequences, fantastic visuals and a magical musical score, this is one of the most ambitious fringe shows I've seen in ages and would like to urge every Greek-Cypriot to make an effort to visit Greenwich because what they will see is something unique. The writer-director introduces a new genre of theatre - the playfilm and in doing so she portrays the story from two different angles. The reality and the subconscious, the obvious and the hidden. Great stuff from a young award-winning filmmaker from Athens who dared to move here and try the impossible and for that I think we ought to support her and to congratulate her.
