A review of Lavender Lady by Victoria Sharkey written on Monday 5th of November 2007
My boyfriend and I went for lunch at Lavender Lady this Sunday, and it was, without a doubt, one of the best meals I have ever had.
I started with mushrooms on toast, which were perfect - the sauce was just creamy enough, the mushrooms were cooked to perfection, and I could have just eaten plates of it. My main was fishcakes, which were again brilliant. Made with the award winning salmon they are so proud of, with not too much potato swamping the fish, and with a side of home made chips which were nice and chunky. Finally was the Eton Mess, again brilliant. My boyfriend had pate and roast beef, which he said were great, and plum and apple crumble, which was lovely too. We had two bottles of wine at £12 each (although they had a £9 on the menu) and I was very pleased with the bill of £42 for the food.. I really can't fault this place! The decor is lovely, the food is brilliant, and the owner (Joan?) is so friendly. We will be making this place a regular fixture..
