A review of O'Neills by John Barber written on Friday 2nd of November 2007
I eventually had a very good night last night onec I finally got into to O'Neills to meet my friends. On entering the pub I saw a bouncer talking to his friend in Polish while he proceeded to attempt to kick down part of the scaffolding by the pub entrance. I was then asked my age, well at least that's what I thought he said, (his level of English language was fairly patchy to say the least), I told him I that I was 2 days away from celebrating my 27th Birthday. I don't think he understood and continued to delay my entering the pub because I was a "fella" as he so abbruptly put it. The only way I got in in the end was to leave my phone with the jolly muscular man as a deposit so I could go up, retrieve a friend (female) to bring her down to the entrance to prove I wasn't a "fella" going for a drink by myself. The truth was I was meeting four friends in there but what is wrong with being a "fella" and having a drink in the pub by yourself anyway? Why must we put up with this? .
