A review of Duke Of Wellington by Trevelyon written on Tuesday 30th of October 2007
I used to use this pub alot as it was a prime example of a traditional English city pub. Upon entering through the front door one could easily be mistaken for walking into an antiques shop due to high volume of Waterloo/ Napoleanic memorabilia and miltaria plastered all around. I moved out of the area several months ago and went to visit this pub recently. I was aware that it was due to be changing hands but when I saw this pub and what had been done, I was gutted. How can a lovely, warm, welcoming city local be transformed into such a horrible gastro pub with no atmosphere and only occassional yuppies for customers!!
