A review of Duke Of Wellington by Richard Smith written on Sunday 28th of October 2007
Four of us had an excellent meal in this pub that has just been through a renaissance. The menu was so good that we took a while to chose. I had the crab bisque, which had the real bite you expect from bisque. Two of my companions had the crab salad and were delighted, which is good as crab promises so much and yet so often disappoints. Then I had the pigs' cheeks, which were delicious and served with flawless mashed potatoes in a portion that was just right. One companion had an excellent steak, while another had the tasty vegetarian option. Service was excellent. The only snag was that the restaurant seemed a little dark, but when we said so the waitress turned up the light--demonstrating excellent customer responsiveness..
