A review of Fairuz Restaurant by A chef written on Friday 26th of October 2007
Though the food was extremely good, the service was so horrific that we will never go back again. As a chef, I commend the attempt at the kitchen to save the restaurant, though as good as the food was, it cannot even come close to attempting to remedy the poor service.
Though we had reservations, we were sat at the worst table in the restaurant, directly adjacent to the constantly opening door. The wait staff could not be bothered to answer any questions about the dishes or wine and when our food finally came, no one ever stopped by to ask how things were or if we needed anything.
At the end of the night, after much contemplation if we should say anything, we first paid and then asked to speak to the manager. It turns out that even though it was a Friday night, there was no manager on duty and our waiter said he was in charge. When we told him how unhappy we were with the service, he proceeded to argue with us about how he did not do anything wrong and how he was sorry for the wait caused by the kitchen. When we told him it was not the kitchen, he continued to argue that he did not do anything wrong.
When we left the restaurant, we realized why I cook more at home than we go out to restaurants. Cleaning up after making dinner is far better than dealing with rude, inconsiderate staff that are not in the business for the love of food...
