A review of Chongs by Sally King written on Friday 27th of October 2006
I went for a meal on a Sunday evening recently with a friend. Our experience was terrible from start to finish.
On entering the restaurant we were greeted by the waitress with a scowl and were almost thrown our menus. We were then ignored when we tried to order drinks.
When the waitress finally came to take our order she left TWICE whilst we were ordering to attend to new customers.
The starter was not good at all - in fact we ate a mouthful each. The main course was average but we had our appetites ruined by the service. As we had paid we suggested we take it away with us as they do have a take-away service. But were told by the waitress that she was not prepared to do this and had no reason why. She actually said that she would be throwing it in the bin!
She also added a very heft £5 service charge for a meal that came to £30.
The waitress in question is there most nights as I have spoken to others who have been to the restaurant and have had the same experience with her. The was absolutely no need for her obnoxious attitude at all.
I will never eat in there again and I would advise anyone not to as well..
