A review of Chongs by SallyAnn written on Wednesday 29th of August 2007
Don't know where the previous reviewer was eating because it can't have been the Chongs (Chingford) thatwe know. The staff are very friendly, I don't think we've ever had bad service in there. The food is excellent and there is more than enough of it.
You can order as much from the menu as you want but if your eyes are bigger than your belly then that's your problem! It does say on the menu that food cannot be taken away and if it was so awful, as the young lady suggests, why would she want to take it away anyway? There are 100 items to choose from on the Emperor Menu, so more than enough to satisfy the majority of people. We don't drink so can't comment on the price of alcohol.
10% service charge is included, so if you're not happy with the service then don't leave a tip!
They are generally very busy but we have never once been walked away from whilst ordering. The waitresses/waiters are very attentive and always ask if you want to order anything else. OK so they don't walk around with manic grins on their faces but they are polite and helpful and will often have a chat if they're not too busy and you can be bothered.
If you get the opportunity to visit Chongs then do so, if you want to eat there Saturday night you might have to ring to book a table as they are very busy at weekends (they must be doing something right?!)
Can't recommend them highly enough..
