A review of Signor Zilli's Restaurant by Royston Davies written on Saturday 11th of August 2007
A small but refreshing place in the west end, decor and music very relaxing with no hustle and bustle.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the house manager and shown to our table which was larger then the average table for two laid out as you would expect nothing to fusy but elegant in its own way.
I chose a nice bottle of chianti lenardo which was refreshing and cleansed the pallet well.
Starter's - I had Zilli's antipesto special and my partner had buffalo mozarrella.
Comments- Nothing over complicated enjoyed the flavours.
Middle course- one mushroom rossoto and one gonnochi.
Comments- the rossoto was very nice just the right mix very flavoursome which is more than can be said for the gonnichi which was to hot in heat to enjoy.
Main Course- one beef fillet and one lamb served with spinach with garlic and chilli and courgette chips.
Comments- the beef was cooked as requested and came with rocket and parmasen shavings which was a bit bland.
the lamb was served on skewers and was to fatty and disapointing. The spinach was tasty and courgette chips were different.
Overall Comment - The service was exceptional and the tip well earned. I thought the food overall was enjoyable and for the price was fair however it was served a bit fast from start to finish in 75 mins although we weren't pressured to leave nor served any lemonchello which would have been a nice touch.
Overall rating 7 out 10
