"Good rainy night haunt"

Jason’s is very cute – nice natural materials, warm colours, quite quiet and not too crowded, even on a Friday night. It’s lovely looking out on the canal, especially on a rainy night – feels very cosy. However, for the prices – £100 for dinner for two, (two courses, one dessert and decent wine) I’d expect the food to be flawless, and it wasn’t. The pear in the pear and cheese salad was crisp – perhaps that was intentional, but if going for a crisp pear, why not go for an apple? Likewise, my steak was good, but it wasn’t buttery, melt-in-your-mouth good, as its price would lead me to expect. Meanwhile, my partner’s soft-shell crab was delicious, as was our gorgeous brulee dessert. I’d say, go for fish here, and enjoy the atmosphere. Delicious malbecs. .
