A review of The Sacred Heart Convent by Sheila Goodgame written on Thursday 4th of April 2024
I was a pupil here for around 2 years 1955 -1957 and was smacked by both nuns and lay teachers for the most trifling things. One time I was smacked by a nun in Assembly because I was not folding my hands in prayer in what the sister considered the correct way! I was 8 years old. A very unhappy time for me at this establishment. My parents withdraw me from this school and I was accepted at another Catholic school in Peckham, St. Joseph's. What a difference in attitudes towards the pupils. I was very happy here and moved on at age 11 to St. Theresa's secondary school between Lewisham and Blackheath..
