He was at Victoria Way. I think he was deputy head. A decent bloke if a bit crumpled. Grubby Grebby. He did take us for football one time and the one thing I remember was that he encouraged us defenders to kick the ball out for a throw, but work towards the opposition. The first (probably the only) football instruction I ever received. I used that when I helped manage junior football when my boys were growing up. At the time it seemed odd but is actually sensible, and especially so when football is played at the pace we played it..
