A review of Oakley Hotel by Elizabeth Brown written on Saturday 21st of April 2007
I have to agree that the Oakley is in dire need of repair. However, that would jack up the room rate so careful what you wish for.
I have stayed there a few times because I love Chelsea but I think that I'm done with the Oakley. My last stay (in 2002), I asked if I could borrow the vacuum to really go over the carpet in my room which was nasty. The carpets in most areas are so worn that you feel guilty walking on them!
To summarize, if you aren't a stickler for cleanliness, want to stay in a beautiful area of London where as a single woman I felt totally safe arriving late at night, then the Oakley will be fine for you. If you can't take a grimy carpet and curtains, look elsewhere.
Elizabeth.
