"Flight times changed without notifying the passengers"

I just missed a flight through no fault of mine. AI114 for scheduled to leave Birmingham at 20:30 on 22/1/15 but was changed to 22:50 due to operational reasons. So far okay. I got at the check in desk at 21:20 to be told that the flight was leaving early at 22:15 and that the check in was closed. I was not even notified of the new time. Pathetic service. I expect compensation..
