"Fantastic onboard service but terrible online/miles register"

I have had wonderful in-flight experiences to/from Heathrow, Abu Dhabi and Cocin and Etihad deserve their reputation for excellent service. However, the online service is another matter - and really spoils it. Etihad miles have recorded my name incorrectly and have asked me to send a copy of my passport to prove who I am, despite my having flown with them (under my correct and only name) on several occasions! This, of course, means that any points I may have gained, are lost in the system - terrible frustrating as I have been unable to have a sensible conversation or exchange of mails with anyone about it. It would be very helpful if someone could sort it out as I am keen to book my next trip in the near future and would like it cleared up before I do. .
