A review of Fairways Carvery by Lilly written on Sunday 6th of October 2013
The restaurant has lovely views. But that is the only good thing I can say about it.
We used to eat there twice a week for several years. We stopped going as the food was getting of a very poor quality. Anyway has it had been some time since we have been and we decided to take the family for lunch today. We arrived at three and went to the bar for drinks. I was served a drink with a dirty glass; it had lemon stuck to the edge of it. I had no lemon in my drink. Looking round the room the carpets and walls are really dirty and sticky in the bar area. The tables had no varnish on the surface and were sticky. The restaurant is much the same. It’s very dated with washed out curtains and grubby walls. The carpets are as dirty as the bar area with food stains all over them.
We went for the starters, well if you can call it that, a self-service table with salad rice and chicken wings. Hot soups pot.. I went for the vegetable soup it had a disgusting tang and was inedible.
The Carvery was no better the potatoes had been re heated and tasted disgusting. Water gravy and the Yorkshire puddings tasted burnt. Overall the food was very poor. I had to come home and have a sandwich. We will not be going back.
