A review of Local History Library & Archives by Richard Muir Clancy written on Saturday 31st of August 2013
My favourite local History Centre is Bancroft Library East London, the staff over the years that I have been there are kind ,very helpful, nothing being a problem, good guidance. I have been trying to trace my Grandfather John Daniel clancy, for many years without success, he was born according to the 1871 Census in
Shoreditch in 1867, in 1891 John himself stated it was Bishopsgate (dates of birth are 19th or 21st of April 1867(which I think indicates, when he applied for his first job he did not have his Birth certificate with him, the second was from records of his employment with the railway when he quoted his birth as being on the 5th March 1867.which suggests that he had it that day!!. Any one who can off and infomation, or perhaps even have him on their family tree, would gladly be most welcome, my e. mail address is .
