Jingles was easily the finest training a young hairdresser could experience. Now mind you my classes were hosted by Gilbert Kohatsu at Hair Spectrum Los Angeles in the earlie 80's. Simon Brandler was the owner/creater of jingles. I was grilled by the likes of Don Francis, a young man named David Racuglia from Chicago who was the 1st American to teach on the road for the British firm. Who later went on to start a line called American Crew. And a delightful young lady named Mandy. Being in my mid 50's that's the best my memory serves me. Gilbert & Jingles taught me to challenge my creative sensibilities,to view style from the streets and then refine it into a technique that I could teach. That all came from discipline and execution, for what good is a style that you cannot recreate? It was so fresh back then, in the 30 yrs. since I've seen the same techniques used the same way. I pray that you still open the minds of the young as I was then when I shampooed heads & cleaned floors & toilets...oh & hand wrote invites to LA 4 Jingles!.
