A review of Tyburn Convent by John Benedict McKay written on Wednesday 7th of September 2011
Over Easter I was privileged to make a retreat at the Tyburn Convent at Ngakuru in NZ. The convent which has been in existence for only a short time, is situated on a steep hillside overlooking a very beautiful small lake in the middle of nowhere about 30 miles south of Rotorua. There is a small community of only 5 nuns at present. Their lifestyle is simple and completely centred on prayer of adoration and the sung liturgy. They have a newly built and beautiful Guest-house which accommodates about 8 guests very comfortably. Their hospitality is wonderfully warm but non-intrusive.
Since my retreat there, I pray every day that this place of grace will receive vocations to this life of peace and love. I am writing this to ask for prayers from across the world for this vibrant little Community. God bless all who read it.
