A review of Allen & Wainwright by JD written on Wednesday 14th of March 2007
I was very surprised to read the negative review concerning Allen & Wainwright, Burnt Ash Hill. It is entirely contrary to my experience of this firm.
I have dealt with Allen and Wainwright for several years and have never been disappointed in any way. The owner is professionally qualified and a man of unfailing patience and courtesy, who takes a great pride in providing service of the highest quality. If he feels a clock is not worth repairing he will say so, and if a repair is undertaken, be it a cheap watch or a valuable antique clock, he will explain exactly what will be done and how much it will cost. The work is guaranteed and I have never known him to return work in an unsatisfactory condition. If that should happen, I am sure he would happily put the fault right. Professional clockmakers whose repair work can be relied upon are few and far between these days. Most have more work than can be dealt with quickly and that is perhaps why some repair jobs may take some time, but rather that than a clock ruined by a 'cowboy'.
Everyone is entitled to their views, but I can only speak as I find, and I am happy with Allen and Wainwright's services and have been for a considerable time.
