A review of Harvester Restaurants by Norman Lewis written on Monday 25th of July 2011
Picture it! Six hungry guys, in Ilford for a meeting this morning and driving a people carrier. Meeting over and we are free for the rest of the day. We are hungry and need a good meal and some drinks before leaving. We happen upon the Harvester in Beehive Lane which seems ideal. But oh dear! There is a charge for parking the car. We don't see the point of paying for parking for a resurauant where we intend to spend a fair amount of money - so we depart and fortunately the Toby in Woodford Avenue has excellent food and the parking is free.
Difficult to say how much we would have spent - certainly more than £50 with booze - probably nearer £100 and we of course resolved never to use Harvester again.
And you didn't even get the parking fee in the end.
Of course you may say that if you didn't charge, anyone could park there leaving no room for paying customers. Simple - you reimburse customers for the parking on production of the ticket stub. No charge for the advice.
