"This bank is a complete disgrace"

I have banked with the RBS in Cavendish Square for 26 years. In November 2010, my account went £6.17 overdrawn (this account has not been overdrawn for many years. This overdraw resulted from a small card purchase in Tesco. I did not expect that the transaction would be authorised if there wasn't enough money in the account for the transaction. I do not have an overdraft facility nor do I want or need one.

To cut a long story short, they began to levy charges on the account and those charges led to overdrawn balances as follows:

£20 on 23-12-2010 causing a balance of £18.60 DR

£20 on 24-1-2011 causing a balance of £197.13 CR

£20 on 23-2-2011 causing a balance of £14.93 DR

£42 on 23-3-2011 causing a balance of £3.77 CR

£48 on 26-4-2011 causing a balance of £33.35 DR

I have now received a letter telling me I am being charged £6 per day from 26th April 2011 for the unauthorised overdraft! At the date of this review, that is another £60 taking the balance to £93.35 DR. This is rising by £6 a day and I do not have the funds to clear it. A year from now I will 'owe' these people£2,283,35. Eventually I could lose my home as a result or go bankrupt! All this over £6.17!!!

I have tried to speak to someone at the bank but my call was not returned. On 20th April I spoke to a very unhelpful individual who said his name was Naz (he refused to deal with the issue or to give his surname) and he told me that someone called Shahab would call me back. Needless to say he did not call me. I have made numerous attempts to call this bank on 020 499 3601 yet nobody picks up the phone.

Does anyone else have similar experiences with this bank, branch or employees mentioned above? For £6.17, I am facing serious problems and cannot even discuss them with the very people responsible! .
