A review of Eurotalk Ltd by John E. Slezosky written on Saturday 19th of February 2011
The interactive feature is good. However, the pronunciation by the virtual speakers, a man and a woman, differs. The stesses/accents placed on the syllables are not identical. And often, neither are the sounds of the words. Finally, there seems to be little logic in the presentation of the different sections of the material in the different instruction sections; the material seems to have been selected more at random than with any kind of meaningful relationship. I bought the program in order to obtain samples of words spoken by LIthuanian speakers. The two virtual speakers--a good idea--sound to me as if they come from different parts of the country, or are not native Lithuanians. The most difficult and inconsistent pronunciations for me to understand--and that's not surprisin--are the diphthongs. .
