A review of Mike's Cafe by Anonymous written on Tuesday 27th of February 2007
Mike's is a popular cafe with the locals, so expect a bit of a wait if you're going on a Saturday. It offers a variety of traditional dishes, with very generous portion sizes. The menu has everything from burgers, to home made lasagne and lamb chops, but my suggestions is the make-your-own allday breakfast as this is what it's known for! You can choose from many breakfast items, and cater it to your own tastes. Mike's is licensed for alcohol, and offer milkshakes, juices and hot drinks.
This cafe is a greasy spoon without the miserable decor, the mix of fairy lights, flat screen tv's and the art that's for sale on the walls strangely works, you could almost say it's trendy.
The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming, and although the waitresses are constantly busy, they are prompt at taking your order and are friendly with it. Prices at Mike's are cheap for the area with two eating plus non alcoholic drinks coming to around £15.
Don't expect the high quality of the neighbouring Electric restaurant, but do expect good honest food, good service and a rather full tummy!.
