This was the first significant atrocity committed in the War in Yugoslavia. After a blockade of the city of Vukovar for a three month period, the successful J.N.A. army removed over 250 patients and individuals who had sought refuge in the local hospital for protection, to a nearby farm where they tortured and murdered them . The victims were then hidden in a recently dug pit with the intention that they would not be discovered..
