Two weeks ago on a Friday we, my husband, daughter and I went to Brent Cross, late evening - about a couple of hours before the stores would shut. We quickly went to the shops we needed to go to and were planning (as we always do when we visit Brent Cross) to have Burger King supper before we go home. The shops were closing and we got our order in for Wopper meals with drinks plus an extra to take away for my son who stayed at home. I asked for extra salad and when everything was on the tray I asked which was the one with the extra salad and the girl serving didn't know and when she asked the chap who prepared them he said he forgot to do one with extra salad - he offered to take it back and do it but as they were closing and we were hungry I said to leave it and that it was OK. The worst experience was when we started to eat our Whoppers. Fistly the bun was disgusting - it wasn't the usual sesame seed bun but it was that nobbly one with the yellow maizemeal topping - but to make matters worse it wasn't even fresh it was dry, crumbly and falling apart. This is the first thing that struck me and to continue the filling was almost non-existent apart from the burger. This was definately not the whopper experience I have grown up on - in fact it made me feel that if this is how a whopper is going to taste like from here on in I'd rather never taste one ever again because I won't be missing much. In my mind was the succulent delicious whoppers of the past that used to be full of filling that used to ouze out with every bite. So many Burger Kings have closed down within the last few years and so many of our foods and foodstuffs have been 'watered down' and quality of flavour, taste etc have been dumbed down - I'd like to hear that this was a one off mistake and that when I try whopper again it will not be like the former description. I did suggest to my husband to take the food and complain but we were hunger and the place was closing, we were tired having worked all day - we coudn't be asked. The bun though was the worst part - I have never had such an awful burger bun before it was probable a little short of getting the mould on it - it was so dry and crumbly - and not the sesame bun but those other ones - I even left most of it and just picked the rest which totally spoilt it and it really did not feel that I had just had a Burger King Whopper - it could have been any burger from anywhere. It was an indian guy who prepared this - he certainly needs to learn his Whoppers - I've been eating them for many years and can give him a lesson or two how he should have prepared them as opposed to the sad state of affairs he presented us with that evening.
