"Christmas carols"

Can you please tell me why anyone would think it necessary to play christmas carols on October 16th? My daughter and I could not believe our ears today at a branch of QS in Penzance, Cornwall that was doing the very same. We thought it was terrible and immediately left the shop, please can someone in your head office, phone them and tell them to leave this untill December..
