A review of Her Majesty's Theatre by Disappointed written on Monday 6th of September 2010
On Saturday 4th September at 2:30 I took my wife and two friends to see the show Phantom of the Opera. I booked the tickets over the phone to ensure I got seats together and that I was not sitting in a
restricted view area, as I felt this would spoil the experience. We were instructed by the operator to buy tickets in the Grand Circle and paid £43.55 each.
When we arrived i picked up the tickets without any problem and we went upstairs to the seats. the view seemed good and we felt we would get a better overall experience as we could see all the way to the top
of the stage.
As the show started some late arrivals turned up sitting in the seats in front of myself and my group. They took over 10 minutes to sort them selves out, talking and moving around and then lent forward. This
meant I was unable to see most of the lower stage. I tried to move left or right to gain some view but with little success. I realised that they were leaning forward because people in front of them were
also sitting forward obstructing their view. This went on for most of the first half.
At the interval i discussed this with the stewards who instructed me to also lean forward. I did this in the second half, giving a bit of a better view but meant i was leaning over the whole time. By the end of
the show my back was very sore and I felt rather cheated.
The show was amazing and the singing and music i couldn't fault. However My view was not totally clear and I felt cheated out of my money as I had been guaranteed that this wasn't restricted view in
anyway.
Please could you reply with some explanation as this has spoilt what was supposed to be a really special day out..
