A review of Taj Tours & Travel Ltd by Ananya Mahapatra written on Saturday 4th of September 2010
I ,Vineet & my wife Ananya just completed the Enchanting Tour of Europe- 12 days yesterday with Taj Tours .So I would like to share my experiences , both good & bad & give my feedback on the trip.I hope my feedback form which i filled up yesterday would be reaching you soon.
- Booking - We booked with your Mumbai Office who were helpful enough for our visa formalities, even though we didnt applied for the visa through them. But would like to point out that they should have given us information about timings at different venues/locations for eg. we were not informed that we will be getting just 5-6 hours in Disneyland Paris which could have helped us to take the alternative tour. As 5-6 hours in disneyland doesnt make any sense as the park itself is open from 10 am -11 pm & we should have given the opportunities to spend much more time there.
- Pick up point bad experience - We were given a time of 5.30 am to be picked up from Ilford by our tour manager the earlier day.We reached the venue at 5 am so that we are not late for the coach. We waited till 6 am but the coach was not in sight. So we had to call the tour manager & he informed that there would be a delay of further 45 mins & we had to wait in the cold morning at the bus stop with no where to go.At 6.45 we received a call from tour manager that it would be another delay of 45 mins . When asked for the reason we were replied that if we are not interested then we can just leave the tour & go back home. We were taken aback with such a reply where tour manager says its not his responsibility for any delays & we need to talk to the head office. The start of the journey was a sour experience which lasted till the end of the tour.
- Group size - while booking we were told the group size would be approx 40-45 ppl but instead we were a group of 67 people which made things difficult at most places.
- Coach Toilet - Although it was mentioned that toilet on the coach is for emergency use , for a group of 67 people with old people & kids, one time emergency each made it 67 times use of toilet , but the toilet was not even cleaned once in the complete 12 days. We were forced to sit in the stink for most of the tour days . There should be min. level of hygiene maintained in the coach which was shockingly not there.
- Hotel in Switzerland - We were promised of 3 & 4 star hotels at locations , but in Switzerland surprisingly the whole group was kept in 2 hotels - One with 3 star facilities (Waldegg) at an amazing location on the hill & the other with 2 star facilities (Sonwandolf) down the hill. On asked why is this discrimination , we were told that the people who booked first got the better hotel. If this was the reason then we should have been told of this while booking that your hotel quality would be lower that the people booked first.
- Travelling - We had 7-10 hours of travelling during day time at many occasions which again was tiring & we had almost no time to spend at the actual locations.
- Hotels - Most of the hotels were located on the outskirts of the cities / towns we visited which gave us no accessibility to the city centre or market place which forced us to buy things at expensive rates from the hotel and also could not explore anything else.
- Amsterdam by night - we were only given 40 mins at city of Amsterdam at leisure. when such places are known for their night life, we should have given more time to spend there. The Night cruise was waste of time & money for most of the group members.
- Austria - We loved the drive through Austrian alps but required some time at leisure to see the beauty but instead were taken to Swarvosky factory which was ok but would have liked to spend time with nature there.
- Cologne & River Rhine - This tour was very well organised & was grand experience.
- Italy - Needed time in Venice which is world famous but hardly got 2 hours which is way too less. Rome Tour was very well organised. For Pisa tour we were given way too much time (3 hours) in the sunny & hot weather which could have been managed in better way.Hotel Saxl on the borders of Italy & Austria was below standard.
- Switzerland - Tours well organised.
- Paris - Because of clubbing of different tours with us , there was chaos for luggages. Also because of that we were made to do city tour almost thrice which was boring & frustrating as we were loosing time to come back for the ferry crossing.
- Driver - The driver was very nice.Irrespective of so many luggages to handle & miles to drive he always had a smile on his face greeting every1.He drove the huge double decker excellently.
- Food / Cooks - The breakfast at the hotels were not good at many places specially Saxl & Sonwandolf. Same menu was repeated always. But the lunches & Dinners were good & cooks were friendly.
All in all the tour was very tiring due to long travel hours but also an experience in itself with great memories & new friends. I really hope all my remarks would be taken with positiveness & implemented to make other tours better.
WE SENT THE SAME FEEDBACK TO THEIR WEMBLEY & MUMBAI OFFICES BUT NONE HAD THE COURTESY EVEN TO SEND AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT YET, SUCH IS THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT..
