I absolutely love Janet's Bar. I go there weekly and always have the night of my life! It's got a personal, intimate and fun vibe from the moment you step in. The walls are covered with photos and articles and posters, featuring visitors, the bar and Janet herself. It's pleasantly haphazard but not cluttered inside- kind of wacky and that's why everyone loves it. The drinks menu is one of the best parts. I highly recommend all of the cocktails, of which there are countless. There's also a selection of high-standard wines and champagne. The prices are good considering the location, 'cause it's bang in the middle of South Kensington, probably London's smartest area! Every time my friends and I go there we always get snacks on the house too, like hot dogs, PB and J sandwiches, popcorn and nuts. It's a riot!

The kind of people who go there are always well-dressed but laid-back and not pretentious, kind of like the owner herself (a vivacious blonde American- you can't miss her!) who knows all her regulars and easily chats to people she hasn't met before. It's really welcoming and makes you feel at home in this little American bar. On many weeknights there's also a group of twenty-something girls and boys who come in for a drink before going to Boujis, a nightclub within a stone's throw of the bar. On those nights you can get a really good vodka and fruity liquor mix shooter for £3. As there's live music ever night (at a comfortable volume so you don't have to yell and can focus more on your company than the singer, but can still hear), the atmosphere is always buzzing and so much fun. The service is amazing, you never have to wait around for your drinks to come or order to be taken by one of the efficient barmaids, or the owner! And it stays open until 2.30am, much later than all of the neighbouring bars and pubs. You can come in the daytime too. I recently went in and got coffee and a muffin on a deal for £2.50! But I prefer it at night when you can sit on the terrace, sip a cocktail with friends, and have a genuinely good time without any inhibitions. .
