A review of Fossdene Primary School by Chris Tubby written on Friday 9th of July 2010
I went to Fossdene Primary School from about 1953 until 1961. memories are hazy but I remember Mr Grebby, Miss Brownjohn (I think she got married while I was there). I remember the Head, Mr Kemp because he caned me!
I remember the name Roy Aldridge as one of the pupils, but I'm sorry Roy I don't know why!
I can remember the nursery better (its an old age thing!) Having pull out camp beds for the afternoon naps - did anyone sleep? Pictures of things on the wall with the first letter a is for apple etc. Story time.
The boiler house was under the school - nice and warm in winter. Those outside loos and the shed for shelter when the weather wasn't good.
Looking back it was probably the best of a pretty awful time at school..
