A review of Bella Magazine by J Mackie written on Friday 30th of April 2010
I have still have some old copies of Bella magazine from its early days from the late 1980s-early 1990s. I know it's 20 years ago and that magazines change according to demand and times changing, but from its old extremely varied content, to what it is now. Bella magazine is virtually unrecognisable as the same. The older format was jam-lacked with a bit of everything from two regular fiction stories, recipes, crafts and things to make, lots of readers true stories, health features, home design - and so much more. Now it is just a uninteresting, thinned down version of celeb gossip like so many other magazines out there and has nothing different to offer like it used to have. I know I am not alone in thinking this from reading the other reviews - but even if the editor considered bringing back a few of its older, regular features ( i'd love to see the fiction pages reinstated personally ) i think it would drastically improve it. I challenge anyone to look at an older version and compare it to how it is now and you will see what i mean ! Take a Break has more to offer as at least it has a bit more variety with recipes, fiction, useful tips etc. Bring back some old features Ed !.
