A review of The Old Bank by Anonymous Dave written on Saturday 27th of March 2010
Arriving at 9pm on a Saturday night, you never expect to receive preferential treatment, but to have to wait 15 minutes to make a drinks order, and then another 15 minutes before taking your food order, something is definitely wrong.
With just two staff looking after a full restaurant, we felt completely invisible. Trying to catch the eyes of the staff was impossible as they rushed around. Even when we did catch their eye we were spoken to with disdain, like we'd just trod a mound of poo into their restaurant. Or they forgot what we had asked for.
The food, whilst good, wasn't cooked as promised. My meat - far from being 'rare' was verging on 'well-done', so it definitely wasn't well-done as far as I was concerned.
The seats were also uncomfortable, although we were there for so long, I'm surprised we didn't get deep vein thrombosis..
