A review of Chambeli Restaurant Ltd by Dipak written on Sunday 17th of January 2010
Dreadful! Honestly dreadful. Yes the decor is decent, but everything else is so poor. The waiters want to rush you from the start and are not friendly... not once did they welcome us. The menu is standard... with a few odd exceptions of carrot and coriander soup.. what?! The food arrived quickly... too quickly to be honest, only 7 minutes for a group of four on a busy Saturday night, I didn't think the food was fresh.. and I was right. My sheesh kebab must have been made a few days ago as it was very dry and rubbery. My main was Karahi Khyberi Lamb, and I'm afraid to say it was so bland and greasy... two things I hate. I literally just picked the pieces of meat which were swimming in a pool of fat, and cried at the fact I'd been charged £8 (oh and don’t forget the compulsory 10% service charge which was not deserved).
In all the four of us were seated and had left in a little over an hour, and my friends felt they had a similar experience (so I wasn't just over reacting). Don’t believe the AA award on the menu as it must have been from a LONG time ago. I feel the reason why the staff don’t care is because the restaurant attracts a lot of tourists who will never return, once you're seated they've got your cash, so why bother trying? Truthfully all....avoid as it’s so poor.
