A review of Gioberti by Alan Cox written on Tuesday 22nd of December 2009
I took my wife and teenage daughter for a pre-Christmas treat and ordered a bottle of Prosecco sparkling wine. It arrived at the table already opened and the waitress poured out three very flat glasses. I brought it to her attention, the manager came over and asked if he could try it. He poured himself a small glass and insisted that it was fine and this wine was semi-sparkling. He asked if he could pour the rest back into my glass after he had tasted it! My daughter was embarrassed by my protest so for the sake of spoiling the rest of the evening we put up with it. My wife's dish was very nice but my pasta dish was bland and very normal for the price I paid. The meal came to £30 per head and only one of us had 3 courses and none of us had coffee. I found the manager's attitude disgraceful. He should have changed the bottle without questioning it instead of making feeble excuses. We won't be going back. Alan Cox, Leytonstone..
