A review of Hair By Toyin by Monica Gearz written on Wednesday 4th of November 2009
The first few times I went to Hair by Toyin, I relaxed my hair, did a treatment and added tracks to my natural hair.
After coming on a few occasions, I noticed a pattern emerging. It became increasingly difficult to resist the immense pressure to cut my hair. The first time it was suggested I have a trim I allowed the stylist to do it, as I assumed she thought it was necessary, however, it seemed every time I went there (even when appointments were only weeks apart) I found myself having to justify why I did not want shorter hair, and eventually losing the battle.
Perhaps, I am easily led, but, time after time, I went to this salon leaving feeling almost as if I was bullied into a hair cut, and annoyed with myself for not being firmer and saying NO more assertively to the truely skilled proprietor as although her styles are executed to perfection, the point is, "How many times and how loudly should you have to say, No I don't want to cut my hair".
