A review of Fossdene Primary School by Mark Hales written on Tuesday 6th of October 2009
Another memory... Once a week we had a music lesson in the hall. A very enthusiastic lady used to play the piano and for musical timing we used to sing... Ford, ford, ford, ford! Aus-tin, aus-tin, aus-tin, austin! Mi-ni - Mi-nor, mi-ni - mi-nor! Ford, ford...
There was the school choir. All used to wear a cape of some sort.
Then there was the Easter raffle. Some toad always used to win the big bag of eggs. (Yes, you!) We all got an egg (chocolate, but chickens egg sized) and it's the only time we were ever allowed to eat sweets in school.
Harvest festival... The "older" kids were allowed out of the school to deliver hampers to the old folks locally.
And of course good old Picture Box once a week on that B/W TV on a stand.
Who remembers "The boy from Space" series? Beep Beep was his name. Also featured "The Thin Man" and writing all in reverse.
Do a Google on that and you can still download the accompanying story boards. Bliss!
Cheers.
Mark..
