A review of The Old Etonian Restaurant by Nic written on Monday 27th of July 2009
Last Friday we visited the Bistro Francais , which is sister premises to the old Etonian . It took them 20 minutes to bring our drinks and another 30 mins to bring starters , they had forgotten our order as two other tables had been served their main courses before our startes even arrived !!!! The bread that was brought round to the table was stale , I constantly had to prompt the waiter for drinks and once the starters came , mine consisted of four prawns for £5 !!! This was supposed to be piripiri prawns , I did not detect any piri piri sauce whatsover , tasted like chilli oil nothing else . My friend ordered aubergine which arrived chilled with the top browned under the grill . At this point we walked out after paying for the drinks . The waiter made excuses 'it's not my fault' , he could at least had apologised . Other excuses were made that the restaurant next door was busy , well as far as we were concerned the restaurant we were in had three tables occupied .
I would suggest avoiding this place and the Old Etonian next door . Poncy high prices , poor quality food and service . Better off at McDonalds !!!!!.
