7.30 – 11pm
See the FTM as you have never seen it before! As part of London Bridge Festival the
Fashion and Textile Museum will be staging a two -night extravaganza of live
entertainment.
Taking place amongst the latest exhibition, Undercover: The Evolution of Underwear,
for two special nights in July the FTM will create a spectacle of music, dance and
fashion.
Developed by creative events company ‘I think I’m Here Darling Where Are You?’
each evening will offer a different line up but each will be drenched with glamour
and style. Also in the line up is the uniquely fabulous ‘Johnny Blue Eyes’. Johnny, a
firm favourite with artists such as Beth Ditto and the Scissor Sisters will be showcasing
his creations on the museum runway, and devising various performances for your
enjoyment.
Tickets cost £10 and are expected to sell quickly for these much-anticipated, one-off
evenings – the price includes the entertainment and entry to the exhibition. A pay
bar will also be available.
Providing a unique backdrop is the stunning Undercover exhibition which traces the
evolution of underwear, from health garment, shape definer to fashion ‘must have’.
The exhibition takes visitors on a journey exploring how female underwear has
evolved as women’s role in society changed and encompasses the changing trends
from the ‘flatten it’ to the ‘push it up’ to the ‘let it all hang out’! From the risqué to
the radical, pieces include the first Merry Widow corset inspired by Lana Turner in the
film of the same name; renowned burlesque artiste Immodesty Blaize’s corset; dress
made from bras and briefs by designers Vin & Omi and a Swarovski crystal-encrusted
bra. .
