A review of Parikiaki Greek Cypriot Newspaper by Thekla charalambous written on Sunday 28th of June 2009
Dear sir/madam
i feel i do need to make a comment about the wine festival.the atmosphere once again made me feel very patriotic and being amongst greek and cypriot people was wonderful. the only negative comment i have to say is about the programme timings. a few schools as you are aware performed greek dances. all the schools were fantastic. however, i do feel that their efforts went unnoticed.
The stavros flatelely show was brilliant and he is a credit to the greek community.the fact that his performance was right smack bang in the middle of the children and adults dancing was in my view wrong. he was asked to sign autographs and near enough everyone got up to get a signature, while the poor greek schools performed to almost no one. may i just remind whoever the organisers are that those schools had been rehearsing for quite a long time. they are also a big part of the community and this should have been recognised. their efforts were almost wasted. maybe stavros would have liked to see the dances himself and cheer on the schools just like we enjoyed cheering him. i wonder if anyone gave him that choice..
