A review of Osteria Pulcinella by A. Weir written on Sunday 21st of June 2009
Six of us went for a meal here on Father`s Day - unfortunately. The service was very slow. The music was too loud, drowning out our conversation, and we had to ask them twice to turn it down. I ordered Lobster Risotto; there was no indication that it would include chillis and be quite spicy - I pointed out to the waitress that, had I known of this, I would not have ordered it. My husband had a mediocre Spaghetti Vongole. My mother`s tagliatelle was lukewarm and tasteless. My son`s gnocchi, with tomato and mozarella, was too bland. They did apologise to us and offer us free drinks/coffee, but I refused, as we had had enough and just wanted to get out. Then, as I was about to settle the bill, a waiter came up with a bottle of limoncello and six glasses, pressing us to buy some `before you pay your bill`. The cost of this dismal meal was £134, including a service charge of £12. They knew we had had a bad experience, but no adjustment had been made to reflect this. I`ve eaten in many Italian restaurants, and would recommend most of them, but certainly not this one. I would never go back. .
