A review of Signor Zilli's Restaurant by Anony written on Sunday 5th of April 2009
I booked this restaurant six weeks ago and was really looking forward to a nice meal with my husband and some good Italian cuisine what we ended up with was far from that. The greeting when we arrived was warm unlike the food. I ordered chicken with masala sauce. When the food arrived it was beautifully presented, four pieces of chicken stuffed with what looked like a marmalade of oinon and mushrooms and served with rosemary potatoes, but stone cold and served on stone cold plates. I spoke to the Manager and the food was taken away, what came back i can only compare to a stirfry,(well we were in Soho) the plate and potatoes were SO HOT you could hear a sizzling noise from the plate, and the chicken was now in small cubes and all mixed up with the sauce and filling and dumped in the middle of a circle of nuclear hot potatoes. Of course by the time the food came back my husband had finished his meal, (no point in his getting any colder than it already was) so we didnt exactly get to dine together. The Manager apologised, shook my hand and said, always i am telling him (the Chef) about serving food on cold plates, you must use warm plates its the first basic thing you learn in cooking! obviously not that chef. Needless to say,i will not be returning to, or recommending this restaurant to anyone else out there!.
