A review of Babinondas by Jeffrey Peters written on Sunday 5th of April 2009
On recommendation I booked a table for two at Babinondas on a Saturday evening. On arrival we were to be seated to the first table by the window which is right by the main front door, which I on booking had specially asked not to placed there!
When we got to our table which was a very tight squeeze through the entire restuarant to the rear. We were given the menu and after choosing from not a very large choice we settled on for starters king prawns which were just 3 very nice sized prawns but nothing else my partner had hommus which was okay but had better from the local khebab house, no serviettes until we asked for them.
My main meal I had asked for sea bass and was told that they had bream which on arrival was a grilled fish placed in the middle of the plate which bore no relation to the meal the vegetable one piece of broccoli which had been boiled to death. During the meal I was hit on the head several times whilst the waiters cleared other tables. Although my partners meal was a nice chicken khebab. The staff were friendly and did try.
All in all something that we did enjoy was the side salad. When the bill came, which we had to ask for twice did not itemise what we had and there was a 10% service charge already added, all in all a very expensive evening just for a salad! .
