A review of The Fort by Ralph written on Tuesday 10th of March 2009
The Fort in Grange Road is a Gay pub and meeting place. It is open every day and is 'hard core' in the extreme. Four days each week there are 'boots only' sessions, although on Sunday and Wednesday evenings you can remain fully clothed and treat it more as a dimly lit gay bar. Enough to say that on other occasions very little beer is sold, since the customers are far too busy doing other things. There are two very dark dark rooms and not too many places to sit down-but then relaxing is not exactly what the 'Fort' is about. I've been there err-more than once. It is extremely 'seedy', but that's what the customers like. It's also cheap to get in and the bar is not excessively expensive either. If you don't think you'd like it don't go in- you could say the Fort caters for a 'niche market'! .
